Stablecoin to card payment

Choose when conversion happens, then verify, authorize, clear and settle a purchase. Watch balances, holds, fees and merchant payment separately.

Fictional educational scenarios. No wallet connection, live transaction or investment recommendation.

Choose a scenario

Changing scenario starts a fresh run and clears the assessment.

Choose a scenario

Wallet value converts into a claim on the program’s fiat balance before spending. Authorization reserves that existing fiat claim; settlement pays the merchant from it.

Reset restores all initial balances, scenario, inputs and learning-check state. Nothing is saved or sent.

Scenario assumptions
  • The wallet starts with 1,000 fictional USD stablecoin units. One unit is assumed redeemable for USD 1 solely for this experiment; depegging, FX and network fees are excluded.
  • Each conversion charges one 1% fee, rounded up to a cent. Prefunding converts once at top-up; authorization conversion converts at the hold; settlement conversion reserves stablecoins first and converts at settlement.
  • These are stipulated debit/payment flows, not verified card products or a credit agreement. Cancellation releases an authorization hold; it does not undo a conversion, refund its fee or reverse a cleared purchase.

Participants and responsibilities

Wallet holder supplies value; program manager checks the balance and conversion; issuer authorizes the purchase; network clears the claim; settlement agent pays the merchant.

Holder claim

A wallet balance, a claim on a program fiat balance, an authorization hold and a merchant receivable are different records. Authorization alone never pays the merchant here.

Failure and recovery

A settlement interruption preserves the cleared obligation and holds. Retry settlement after restoring processing; repeated settlement cannot pay twice.

A fresh scenario is ready. Read its assumptions, then run an action.

Run the mechanism

Actions follow the contract. You can try a blocked action to inspect why it is rejected; rejected actions preserve the ledger.

01Ready to run

Convert and prefund

Convert wallet value into a fiat balance, charging 1% once. Available only in the prefunded mode.

02Inspect rejection

Verify balance / eligibility

Payment checks available value including conversion fees; DvP checks the stipulated holding and transfer policy. Verification alone transfers nothing.

03Inspect rejection

Authorize and reserve

Issuer reserves fiat or stablecoin value according to the selected conversion timing. Merchant payment is still zero.

04Inspect rejection

Clear the purchase

Network establishes the purchase obligation. The merchant has not yet been paid by this simulation.

05Inspect rejection

Settle / retry settlement

Settlement agent consumes the reserved value and pays the merchant once. A prior interruption leaves a retryable cleared obligation.

06Inspect rejection

Interrupt settlement

Simulate a known processing interruption: no value moves, the cleared obligation and holds remain available for a safe retry.

07Inspect rejection

Cancel before commitment

Release holds only where the contract permits cancellation. Cleared payments and unknown DvP outcomes cannot be cancelled here.
